According to developer Dean, the direct boot feature on his multiMAN backup manager (file manager/media player) does not use the 'Syscalls' function, therefore it is able to directly execute the EBOOT.BIN file found on PS3 games (and backups). So, once a signed version of multiMAN is released, you'll be able to directly boot PS3 backups on geohot's custom firmware. Unfortunately, direct boot doesn't work for every game.
