Sony's request for a Temporary Restraining Order granted

This is not good news for the PS3 scene. The judge in the case has granted Sony's request for a temporary restraining order (TRO) against Geohot and the other defendants. According to court documents, it says that Sony has sufficient cause for the TRO to be granted. Therefore, they are restricted from offering, creating, posting, marketing (and so on) of any hacks.

[Update] Geohot's lawyers move for dismissal

Geohot's Lawyers have moved for a dismissal of Sony's case against him.  They have cited a lack of jurisdiction in California.  As of right now, Sony has not met the requirements to keep this case in California.  It would appear so that the judge will likely dismiss the case.  Updates will be posted here on our forum news.  This can be downloaded in our forums.  Sony's lawyers have also filed a response which is also available in our forums as well.  Leave your comments below.

[UPDATE] Judge has doubts, Sony responds!

For those of you like us who have been following Geohot and his legal trouble against Sony, we have more update. Sony wants the case to be reviewed in California while Geohot and his lawyers are pushing to move this case to New Jersey, where Geohot resides. Sony has argued that the so called "hack" that was released by Geohot was distributed via Twitter and Youtube, which are both based in California, thus the case should continue. Geohot has updated his site with a Supplemental TRO. This outlines the various reasons why geohot can still be tried within the California jurisdiction.

Also, older homebrew applications (programmed for firmware v3.41 and lower) will not work and will need to be signed to work on v3.55 jailbreak but don't worry, there are new tools coming that will let you sign older homebrew so that it will boot on v3.55.
