Geohot released v3.55 jailbreak. Sony says "What?!"

Let the cat and mouse game resume! Developer geohot has released firmware v3.55 jailbreak. Keep in mind, this is for homebrew applications, so you will not be able to run your pirated PS3 games (or games that you own but have ripped!) ;). Also, older homebrew applications (programmed for firmware v3.41 and lower) will not work and will need to be signed to work on v3.55 jailbreak but don't worry, there are new tools coming that will let you sign older homebrew so that it will boot on v3.55.

E3 Card Reader PS3 firmware v3.55 spoof

Here's an E3 Card Reader firmware that you can use to spoof your PS3's firmware to v3.55, as well as jailbreak your PS3 (running firmware v3.41). As with all current v3.55 spoofing, it will block your PS3 from prompting for an update to firmware v3.55. Also, this E3 Card Reader firmware will simplify free psgroove usage (I'm not sure what that means).

Spoof firmware v3.55 for all USB boards. Includes both PL3 and Hermes 4B payloads

After the release of the first firmware v3.55 spoof by PS3Yes!, it didn't take long for Cyberskunk of psx-scene to port over the spoof for the majority of USB boards out there. As mentioned before, this spoof ONLY stops the PS3 from prompting for an update to firmware v3.55--nothing more. Therefore, you cannot use it to go on PSN or online or play games like Gran Turismo 5.

PS3Yes releases v3.55 spoof payload

Team PS3Yes! is back with their second firmware spoof payload. This one is for firmware v3.55. But unlike the firmware v3.50 spoof, this one only does one thing. It stops the PS3 from prompting you to update to v3.55. Yeah, not that exciting!

Jailbreak your PS3 using an HTC Desire HD (aka HTC Ace / HTC Spade) phone

ImageShack, share photos, pictures, free image hosting, free video hosting, image hosting, video hosting, photo image hosting site, video hosting site

Can't afford to buy a USB jailbreaking device (minimus 32, X3 Max, Teensy++,  or PS3key) for your precious PS3 system but own an HTC Desire HD phone? Well, you're in luck. Now, you can use your HTC Desire HD phone to jailbreak your PS3 (running firmware v3.41) system. The first thing you will need to do is root (hack) your phone (Google for HTC Desire HD rooting instructions) so that you can install ClockworkMod recovery. Once installed, you can use the new recovery system on your phone to jailbreak your PS3 system via the PSFreedom option (PSFreedom is a port of PSGroove). See below for the ClockworkMod recovery installation instructions.

Instructions:
Power off, then power on the device with 'volume down' pressed and selecting the 'recovery' option, by using 'adb recovery', by installing 'Quick Boot' from the Market or by installing 'ROM Manager' from the Market.

PL3 payload updated and with that comes the release of LV1 hypercall tracer payload

ImageShack, share photos, pictures, free image hosting, free video hosting, image hosting, video hosting, photo image hosting site, video hosting site

If you have been following developer KaKaRoToKS on Twitter, you would know that he is very involved with the development of the PS3 PL3 payload. With that being said, he just updated the PL3 payload which includes the LV1 hypercall tracer payload. Keep in mind, the released of this payload is for developers to compile and port over to the appropriate USB board or hardware (e.g. teensy++, minimus, maximus, blackcat, iPod, TI-84+, Droid, etc.).
via Twitter: Add a hypercall tracer payload.
via github: Adding a payload to trace all sc calls (syscalls and hypercalls). Use carefully, this generates race conditions easily!!

PS3 USB Jailbreak, the little dongle that could

If you are in the market for a jailbreaking device for the PS3, you may want to look into this. Many jailbreaking devices out there only support the .hex files that are programmed for it, but the company behind this PS3 USB Jailbreak product claimed that their device can accept any .hex files designed for other devices.

HEXTOOL v1.0.1 by Maximus released

This application allows you to theoretically convert .hex files designed for a specific USB jailbreak device over to another USB jailbreak device. (e.g. teensy++ hex file to minimus avr hex file).

FROM README:
WHAT IT IS?

Its a tool to extract the payload components from an hex file and to paste over
another, so teorically is a tool that might help to port any new released
payload to another board.

It also work if you want extract .bin payload files for your specific board
flasher.

What Parameters it require?

a) Donor File, the .hex file that has the payload you want to copy
b) Acceptor File, the .hex file that has an image of working code for
your board
c) Destination File, The output file resulting. (The tool dont overwrite
the Acceptor file)
d) Optional you can tweak the max-address, this is to limit the payload
check range as it consume memory, set to the default. Any address
above this value will not be checked and just copied to the output file
to preserve it (by example the pic configuration bits)

[UPDATE] Hermes v4b & PL3 payload w/ PSN online play & 3.50 spoofing + TI-84/89

Thanks to developer xoeo for releasing the payload with PSN and online play, fl0PPsy for compiling the Rockbox files that supports PSN and 3.50 spoofing, and DJLO for compiling these .hex files for PSN and 3.50 spoofing.

The SPOOFING feature will trick the PS3 games into thinking that you are running firmware 3.50 on your system.

(ADDED PS3Break v1.7, Minimus 32, USBTinyMKII, and Bentio)

Maximus ANYHEX Converter v2.0 released

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/984/maximushid20.gif

Maximus ANYHEX converter is designed for PIC users (e.g PIC18F devices). You can use this PC tool to convert pre-compiled ATMEL .hex files into binary files so that it could be used to flash PIC18F USB devices.
Porting the .hexes from the daily new and updated payloads is taking me more time than I expected, and since you deserve a faster port of the payloads to the PIC18F devices I decided to invest some time in a new HID Loader 2.0 with a new "ANY HEX IMPORT" feature!

Basically with this you never have to wait for me to port the payloads to the MAXAVRUSB v1.2 32KB or to the PIC18FUSB devices.
