Bypass PS3 firmware v3.55 update
It appears that you can log-on to PSN / online on firmware v3.50 without being forced to upgrade to v3.55--simply by pointing your current DNS on the PS3 to: 67.202.81.137 for primary and 67.202.81.137 secondary. So, to change your PS3 DNS, go to your PS3 network settings option and edit the DNS settings.
Please note, this method will likely be blocked by Sony in the near future.
