Waninkoko's custom firmware v2 & Herme's custom firmware coming
It looks like Waninkoko is planning to release version 2 of his custom firmware v3.55. According to the source, version 2 will be compatible with the original fat PS3, as well as with the newer slim PS3. Also, version 2 will feature a new payload--avoiding the use of the current PL3 payload, which is causing quite a few problems. Of course, when this version 2 custom firmware is released by Waninkoko, be very careful! If you have been following the news, his first custom firmware released by Waninkoko caused many PS3 to become a piece of brick. Ouch!
In other news, developer Hermes--creator of Hermes payload--is planning to release his very own custom firmware. Unlike the custom firmwares that's been pumping out of the PS3 development scene, this one is based on PS3 firmware v3.41--not v3.55. Oh, how we miss you firmware v3.41.
