PS3LoadX v1.1 released. Using Tiny3D library



Developer Hermes is back and he brought with him PS3LoadX app. This app is an enhancement of the PSLoad app, released by developer AerialX. One of the main use of this app is the ability to load SELF (homebrew apps) files on the PS3 via the use of wired or wireless network.

Waninkoko's FwTool source code pushed

How-to: Create a custom PS3 boot logo



Here's a guide on how to create your very own custom PS3 boot logo. You simply modify the PS3's coldboot.raf file with your design and transfer the newly modified coldboot.raf file over to the PS3 flash--overwriting the original coldboot.raf. [UPDATE] Oops! Wrong dongle master key



Mathieulh just sent out another tweet stating that the dongle master key he tweeted about earlier was incorrect. But we'll get the correct key once he gets a chance to check his notes. This is not the first time Mathieulh made a mistake about the dongle master key.

Just a while ago, developer Mathieulh sent out a tweet regarding the dongle master key, in which you can use it to generate keys for any dongles' device id.

"By the way in case people missed it, this is the dongle master key (not the 0xAAAA device key): 0x04 0x4E 0x61 0x1B 0xA6 0xA6 0xE3 0x9A 0x98 0xCF 0x35 0x81 0x2C 0x80 0x68 0xC7 0xFC 0x5F 0x7A 0xE8. It works up to version 3.55 included. You can generate keys for any dongles' device id with it if people care."

E3 Card Reader PS3 firmware v3.55 spoof



Here's an E3 Card Reader firmware that you can use to spoof your PS3's firmware to v3.55, as well as jailbreak your PS3 (running firmware v3.41). As with all current v3.55 spoofing, it will block your PS3 from prompting for an update to firmware v3.55. PS3Tetris Final released. Include source code



Well folks, this is the final release of  PS3Tetris. Can you believe it? The first public release was only a couple of days ago. Developer slicer4ever was nice enough to release the source code for other developers to improve on this great Tetris homebrew game. PSPoke v1.1 released



Developed by NZHawk, PSPoke is an application that allows you to view and edit the lvl2 memory on the PS3 system during runtime via the use of your PC. This release fixes stability issue.

Waninkoko's FreeFlash v1.0 app released. Source code included



Developer Waninkoko has just released a new app called FreeFlash, which is similar to Mount Alejandro. Use it to write files to '/dev_fflash' (double f) directory, instead of '/dev_flash'--to prevent system brick and issues.

PS3Win v0.9.6 released

Mount Alejandro app explained by developer



Apparently, there has been some confusion as to what the Mount_Alejandro app does. This app, released less than a week ago, enabled the ability to write to the /dev_flash directory. Therefore, to clarify the purpose of this app, for those who have questions about it, developer PS3MrEnigma will try to explain in detail. See below.

LuaPlayer PS3 beta v1.0 released. Demo included

PS3Tetris released for PS3



Thanks to Slicer4ever, a member of the PS3 Hax Network, for the talented homebrew coding of the Russian game Tetris now on PS3!  According to Slicer4ever, the game is nearly complete but does include a few bugs that will be fixed. 

Kinect may soon be possible on PS3 via API OpenNI drivers



According to German site VideoGamesZone.de, it may soon be possible to use the Kinect hardware on the PS3 through the use of the API OpenNI drivers available for Linux. Yeah, you will need Linux to be installed on your PS3 via Other OS.

Spoof firmware v3.55 for all USB boards. Includes both PL3 and Hermes 4B payloads



After the release of the first firmware v3.55 spoof by PS3Yes!, it didn't take long for Cyberskunk of psx-scene to port over the spoof for the majority of USB boards out there. As mentioned before, this spoof ONLY stops the PS3 from prompting for an update to firmware v3.55--nothing more. Therefore, you cannot use it to go on PSN or online or play games like Gran Turismo 5.

New PS3 exploits to be shown at hacker conference (Chaos Communication Congress)



Get ready for the 27th Chaos Communication Congress conference because new PS3 exploits will be unveiled! The conference will run December 27-30th 2010. Console hacker marcan, bushing, and sven will be there and are set to give an hour long speech about PS3 hacking and newly discovered exploits.

GenesisPlus GX v1.0 (Sega Genesis emulator) released. New ROM menu, save state, shaders etc



An unknown developer has released a Sega Genesis emulator called GenesisPlus GX for the PS3. The emulator supports two (2) players, rom in .zip format, save/load state, shader filters, screen stretch, svp emulation, and more!

How-to use:
1) Put all folders so that the following folders, ./genplus, ./genplus/roms, ./genplus/bios, ./genplus/state, and ./genplus/sram are on root of your USB flash drive.

E3 Card Reader releases new downgrader to fix Blu-ray problems



Got an E3 Card Reader? You want to downgrade but worried that the downgrader will cause your Blu-ray movie playback feature to become corrupted? Well, team E3DIY got your back! This is a new downgrader from the team that will prevent such problem from occurring.

Here is the updated steps:
  1. Copy "e3downgrader fix BD beta.bin" into E3 upgrader disk!
  2. Insert E3 Card Reader into PS3 Right-Most USB port (near BD drive).
  3. Jailbreak PS3 the normal way (power then eject), after few seconds, the console will auto shutdown.
  4. Remove E3 Card Reader from PS3, and reset console, it will now enter the Factory/Service mode.
  5. Continue with the rest of the normal downgrading steps (similar instructions found here--start at step #6), using the downgrader package from the download link below.

PS3Yes releases v3.55 spoof payload



Team PS3Yes! is back with their second firmware spoof payload. This one is for firmware v3.55. But unlike the firmware v3.50 spoof, this one only does one thing. It stops the PS3 from prompting you to update to v3.55. Yeah, not that exciting!

PSN access blocked for firmware v3.50 users



What a surprise! We knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Less than a week ago, a workaround was discovered that allowed PS3 owners running firmware v3.50 to log on to PSN without having to update to firmware v3.55--simply by changing the PS3's DNS settings.

E3DIY released fix for USB Mass Storage issue on jailbroken PS3



E3DIY, the company behind the E3 Card Reader product, just released a quick fix to solve those freezing issues that occur when the E3 Card Reader is removed and plugged back into the PS3, again. The company claimed that it is not just their product that can freeze up a jailbroken PS3 but other Sony products as well.
